Thursday: A slow day
With sore muscles a lingering memory of the Great Wall, we slept in, Walti met with a Swiss journalist colleague, and then we met him for a little open-air shopping at the market at the Worker's Stadium, where Walti got two summer shirts, Anne a pair of winter shoes and mom a blouse. Then we had an excellent lunch at Anne's little neighborhood restaurant for a total of RMB 20 for three persons (about USD 2.50), including two large bottles of beer! As usual, the food was simple, yet tasty and fresh: cold golden needle mushroom salad with coriander and cucumber and vegetable and pork & onion jiaozi (steamed dumplings), which are typically dipped in vinegar. Then, we all sort of lost steam, so we walked back to the Lee Garden for a nap. Mom has unfortunately picked up a head cold, and I have a bit of a sore throat, so I hope the nap will do us good!
Now Walti is working out in the gym. Tonight, we will probably just relax here at "home". Hard to believe that tomorrow is already Walti's last day, before he flies back to Newark on Saturday...
